Comments: Sunrise on the Panamints from Zabriskie Point. Death Valley National Park includes not only Death Valley, but also Saline Valley, Eureka Valley, a substantial part of Panamint Valley and several intervening mountain ranges. Seen here is the Panamint range receiving the first rays of sun at dawn. In the foreground is Manly Beacon and Golden Canyon, and beyond is the Saline Valley. The lighter colors in the sedimentary rock below Zabriskie Point are mostly from iron while the darker bands are volcanic ash and lava flows. This may well be the most spectacular view in all of the National Park System.
